'Noah's Ark'
#DrawnByGondwanaArtProject
The Gondwana Art Project is focused on tribal artisans from the Gondwana Region in central India. The Foundation has created a platform for these tribal artists to present their work and their perspectives demonstrating their creativity and craftsmanship, introducing new methods and techniques that express both traditional and contemporary imagery and values. In this artwork, Gond artist Santoshi Shyam has infused traditional Gond motifs and storytelling elements into the biblical narrative of Noah’s Ark. The Gond people have a strong connection with nature, and their art often revolves around themes of wildlife, flora, and fauna. In the context of Noah’s Ark, the artist has emphasised the importance of preserving biodiversity and the harmony between humans and animals. The ark itself is intricately decorated with Gond patterns, symbolising the idea of protection and preservation.
